Alberto Michan now rides for Ilan Ferder Stables

Mexican rider Alberto Michán (sometimes his name appear as Alberto Michan Halbinger) was born in Mexico City on 8 December 1978, and since eight years of age began competing in jumping competitions.  He excelled in Children and Junior as well as Young Riders where he obtain in 1996 the gold medal at the NAYRC under the training of Mexican Olympic Medalist Alberto Valdes.  He studied International Business at the ITESM in Mexico State, and after working in the private sector he decided to give a chance as professional in jumping.

Married to Ana Paula Fernández has three children, Elias age 10, Alex 7 and Sofia who was born in Belgium two years ago.
He has been member of the Mexican Equestrian Team and have obtained several Central American and Caribbean medals in Bogotá in 2006 (Team and Individual gold with Risque Tout) as well in Puerto Rico 2010 (Team and Individual Silver with Rosalia La Silla).

 He was a member also of the bronze medal in the Pan-American Games 2011 in Guadalajara, where his younger brother Daniel was also part of the Team.  Riding Rosalia La Silla competed in his second Olympic Games in London 2012 where he finished in fifth place individually (as well as Nick Skelton and Scott Brash from GBR) and also has been in the Team for two World Equestrian Games (Aachen and Normandy) and three World Cup Finals (twice at Las Vegas and Kuala Lumpur).

 Riding for the Mexican La Silla since December 2008 and for seven years until last month, was an active participant in Europe including several shows at the Global Champion’s Tour, but beginning this year will be part of Ferder Stables based in Wellington, Florida.

 Ferber Stables has several horses, some Grand Prix like Baronez (15, Heartbreaker), Czardas (Contendro I), Warrant and several new that come and go from this facility.

Michan’ plans are to participate at WEF in Wellington, and the Furisiyya Nation’s Cup in Ocala in case Mexican Chef D’Equipe Norman Dello Joio selcts him.  Also in his plans the Global Champion Tour both in Miami and Mexico.

Mexico will be the first time to be included in GCT, at the Campo Marte in Reforma Avenue, the same place where the Grand Prix at the Olympics and Pan-American Games were held in 1968 and 1975 respectively.  A beautiful scenery in front of five star hotels is an iconic place in México.  In the past years several polo games have been take place, but very few show jumping competitions.

After that he intend to go to Coapexpan in Xalapa (state of Veracruz).  From there to Spruce Meadows for the Sumer Championships, selecting some horses for the National and the North American and other for the in between weeks.  From Spruce Meadows a couple of shows in New York, and from there to Europe until November, and back to Wellington for the December shows.
